Investing in development

By reinforcing Protime’s team with additional developers from Info Support, the organization is giving their organization an extra boost. “It was an immediate match with our team spirit,” adds Yves Van De Venne, CTO at Protime: “What immediately struck me about Info Support is how hard they invest in the development of their employees. We also find it extremely important to let our people grow from their talents. The connection is so good that you don’t really see any difference between the Info Support developers who assist us on the shop floor and our own Protimers. It really is a blended team. We are therefore constantly reinforcing each other.”

Striving together toward a goal

The collaboration began in 2017 with two developers from Info Support joining the Protime team. Now there are a total of five Info Support employees working in-house at Protime. “It was a very conscious decision to spread the people from Info Support across the different teams. They are not in a silo, but are part of our operation across the board,” Van De Venne explains. “This is not only conducive to the team atmosphere, it also helps us move forward in terms of expertise. In fact, the people at Info Support bring a high level in terms of seniority. It is good to distribute that kind of expertise throughout your organization. We really notice that they play a pioneering role based on their experience. In addition, Info Supporters themselves come together to share knowledge. It makes for a well-oiled machine.”

The blended teams are really a success. This is certainly partly because we at Protime consider a warm and open culture important. We make no distinction, but invite everyone to the New Year's party or a drink, for example. But it is also because of Info Support's DNA: they are developers with a people-oriented and social approach.

Smooth blend of expertise and people skills

Software is all about people. Having the right knowledge is one thing. But having the right mentality and team spirit makes all the difference. Those who can read a customer’s needs well know which software solutions score best. “As a Protimer, you have to be able to switch smoothly and think along with customers. A spontaneous approach and a good feeling with people is therefore crucial. We also see this mix of experience, knowledge and people skills among the Info Support developers. They really stand out,” Van De Venne explains.

More than just a good click

That smooth connection doesn’t stop just because the work has been delivered or the work hours ticked off. It’s about much more than that. “For example, we also get proactive proposals from Info Support, simply based on something they’ve picked up from the corridors,” Van De Venne laughs. “Then they come back to that a week later with an innovative proposal for a pilot project or a custom workshop. They combine an inquisitive mindset with the courage to experiment. And we enjoy the learning process along with them. It’s nice to see how they think along with us as a matter of course and, in the process, understand very well what opportunities are useful for us to grow. A workshop on artificial intelligence is planned for September. We are already looking forward to it!”
