Help with finding (Free)public data for Data Analytics/Data Mining

Every time I want to build a demo or want to try a new tool for Data Analytics, Data visualization, Data Mining etc. it is a struggle to find a nice (free)public dataset to play with. (does anyone else has this challenge?)

Sites I use often:

– Azure data market place(http://datamarket.azure.com/browse/data?price=free)
– dutch government site (https://data.overheid.nl/)
– Archive.org (https://archive.org/details/datasets)

But thanks to this blogpost on KDNugget that directed me to the “Awesome Public Datasets” list on Github it is much easier to find a dataset to work with. Apparently this list has been there for a while now and is created by Xia Ming. My blog is for those who also did not know about this list.

So looking for data to work/play with, be sure to take a look at this awesome and very useful list!!! (Thanks Xia Ming)

A few examples of the sites can be found below and for the full list go to (https://github.com/caesar0301/awesome-public-datasets)
